Cop to be charged for the death of Allyson Major

The Ministry of National Security announced earlier today that The Special Investigation Team, which was put together to focus solely on the case of the death 36-year-old Allyson Major (MAJOR UP VO), submitted their conclusion. Based on the directive of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Corporal Kent Martinez will be charged with Manslaughter by Negligence. Major passed away on July 17 after he was shot on the previous afternoon. Belizeans in the downtown area were startled when Major’s car collided into a bus at the foot of the swing bridge, and police were seen firing at his vehicle. According to the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, these cops had been pursuing Major from George Street, after they reportedly saw him picking up a package. The police claimed that they witnessed Major throwing the package outside the window after he realized he was being chased. The cops continued to pursue him and he would eventually be shot in the back of the head. Later when checks were made for the package he reportedly discarded, it was allegedly discovered to be four ounces of marijuana. Major was a well-known teacher, and his death brought plenty of public outrage.//////////
