The fourth person to be found murdered over the long weekend was 42 year old Eleazar Chan of Louisville Village, Corozal District. His body was found on Easter Sunday in a cane field in San Pedro Village, also in the Corozal District. A post mortem exam was conducted on site and the cause of death was determined to be a result of blunt force trauma to the face and bronchial asphyxiation. This morning, Head of the National Crimes Investigation Branc, ACP Joseph Myvette, shared more details.
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head of the National Crime Investigation Branch: “Somewhere about half a mile from San Pedro, west of San Pedro Village, a red in color sofa was found between two cane fields. Upon inspection of the sofa police discovered a human corpse encased within the sofa. Upon opening the sofa, the body of Eleazar Chan, a 42 year old Broker of Louisville Village was found wrapped in a hammock and thereafter in black plastic garbage bags; it was found in an advanced state of decomposition. An on scene postmortem was conducted where the cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the face and also asphyxia due to blood content. Police have since commenced an intensive investigation where three persons are detained in relation to this matter. We are also seeking the public’s assistance in obtaining any information that might be helpful to this investigation in order to conclude this investigation.”
Chan had been reported missing by his wife on March 31.
