Charges Withdrawn against Immigration Officers

Immigration Fight VO.00_00_02_06.Still001

The immigration officers decided to withdraw the charges after being persuaded by the Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser to do so since it would taint their images as public officers if they were found guilty and end up spending time behind bars.

Yesterday the case between Anne Marie Smith, Immigration Officer Clerk 2, and Sheree Flores, Immigration Officer Clerk 1, was set to proceed; but instead, the immigration officers decided to withdraw the charges against each other. The immigration officers decided to withdraw the charges after being persuaded by the Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser to do so since it would taint their images as public officers if they were found guilty and end up spending time behind bars.  Smith was represented by Stacey Castillo while Flores was represented by Leeroy Banner. The incident occurred earlier this year in March. The two immigration officers were on their way home in a work van.  It was at the time of exiting the van that Flores got into an altercation with Smith. Smith reported to police that Flores pushed her causing her to fall off her seat. As a result, Smith fell between the chairs and then Flores jumped on her punching and scratching.  It was not until the driver intervened that Smith was able to get away from her attacker.  Thereafter, Smith filed a police report of the incident and then, Flores filed a counter-claim. In court, the Chief Magistrate pointed out that Flores has had altercation with other officers and urged Flores to change her conduct.
