Just before nine o’clock last night a truck driver was robbed of his employer’s delivery truck for Circle R Rice Products. The incident reportedly happened at a storage site in Cotton Tree Village, Cayo District. Love News understands that the truck was recovered in Melchor de Mencos at around ten thirty last night with the assistance of the Guatemala police. Senior Superintendent of Police, Hilberto Romero briefed the media on the report they received.
Sr.Superintendent Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “On Wednesday the sixth day of November 2019 around 8:50pm there was a report of an aggravated burglary at Circle R Rice situated between miles 45 and 46 on the George Price Highway. Police responded where they found Hector Alvarado who reported that he parked the company vehicle inside the compound and went to a room nearby, shortly thereafter he heard knocks on the door, he opened the door and he was approached by a male person who pointed a firearm at him. The person proceeded to tie him up and thereafter Alvarado heard the sound of engines outside. He managed the loose himself half an hour thereafter and then realized that a cargo truck and a motorcycle were stolen from the compound. A report was made and police conducted investigations and the cargo truck was recovered across the border in Melchor. Investigations into this matter continues.”
Love News understands that the men escaped via Bullet Tree and Santa Rosa Villages that have picado roads that lead across the border. The truck was located due to the tracking device installed on the vehicle. The owner of the truck refused to comment on record. The driver, Hector Alfredo Alvarado was unharmed in this incident.
