Double fatalities on the Southern Highway

On Sunday, a road traffic incident which took place on the Southern highway, claimed the life of two persons. Inspector of Police, Wilfredo Ferrifino, Deputy of CIB told the media that the driver of both vehicles involved in the accident died at the scene.

“A road traffic accident between mile 32 and mile 33 on the southern highway on the red bank junction. They found 48-year-old James Andrews of Independence village and one 41-year-old Michael Martinez of Santa Cruz village on the scene apparently dead.  Investigations from police indicated that Mr. Andrews who was driving a Astro van coming from the direction Santa Cruz heading to Independence and Mr. Michael Martinez heading in the opposite direction collided and that resulted in both were drivers of each vehicle and the collided head on and sustained head and body injuries and succumbed to those head and body injuries.”

Michael Martinez was driving with two other persons who managed to escape serious injuries. They were taken to the polyclinic where they were treated and released.
