Dr. Manzanero raises funds for good causes

Dr. Marvin Manzanero also spoke to us about his two charity fundraisers. Manzanero is taking part in this year’s Chiquibul marathon. For that marathon, Manzanero decided to do a personal fundraiser for the Cancer Society San Ignacio Branch and for a school feeding program at Mount Carmel Primary School in Benque Viejo del Carmen. He posed the request to his friends on Facebook and so far he has raised about 40 percent of his target.

“I do volunteer work with the Cancer Society San Ignacio Branch which is a strictly volunteer group and they do rely heavily on just sponsorship and they do their own fund raising activities and that’s usually done to help cancer patients in the area in terms of their treatment, social support in getting them aboard if the treatment is not available in Belize. So that’s one and two is my two children go to school in Benque and we are aware of children in Benque who go to school without having had breakfast and I’m sure it is happens about everywhere and there’s a school feeding program that gives select children lunches during the school days and they also rely on sponsorship or whatever is given by the community and I understand some foreign agencies also give them food items.”

The Chiquibul Marathon has been postponed to March 17 and 18. Dr. Manzanero says he wants to raise about one thousand three thousand dollars for each charity.
