Easter is more than just fish and bun

Easter is here once again, and many businesses were only opened half-day today as the long break begins. Many people are making plans to get away and relax during this Easter break.  One of the traditions of the Easter is that of bun and fish.  While some people planned ahead, others are just making their last minute purchase of fish.  Love News stopped by the fish market and spoke with one of the vendors who was selling his fresh catch.

“This is what the people need for the Easter and we are here to fulfill their demands. The demand is up by thirty percent, the local foreigners are not here so we miss them.”

The true meaning of Easter is the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which has become overshadowed by so many different activities people engage in. Reverent Canon Leroy Flowers noted that there has been a shift in the way the holiday is observed.

“I think that there has been a shift where more and more people use the Easter holidays to go on vacation with family and friends. I think it gives an opportunity for families to bond and for friends to get together, but the message of Easter remains the same Jesus has risen he is alive and in spite of all the challenges and mistake of Christianity, the church exist simply because he rose from the dead.”

Flowers said that there are many who have forsaken God, chasing after money. He added that while money is important, it cannot replace the joy and fulfillment that is attained by having a relationship with God.
