A meeting between Minister of Education Patrick Faber and the Belize National Teacher’s Union (BNTU) is pending. The meeting was requested by the BNTU and last week Minister Faber confirmed that he would grant the union the meeting. The BNTU requested the meeting to discuss matters concerning the collective bargaining agreement, which it says has not been finalized. One outstanding matter the union says needs more discussing is Proposal 22. However, Faber says that Proposal 22 has been finalized and there will be no change unless the four Grant-Aided Secondary and Tertiary Level educational institutions agree.
Faber did not indicate when he will be holding the meeting with the BNTU.
