Elderly man has been identified as Claudius Meighan

Police have identified the elderly man who they found along the George Price Highway on Tuesday night. ASP Alejandro Cowo, head of the CIB in Belize City told the media that a family member identified him just last night.

ASP Alejandro Cowo, Head of C.I.B

“Last night we were finally able to get the family members and he was identified as Claudius Meighan, an 80-year-old from a Belama address. He was identified by the ex-common law. Apparently, he is experiencing some mental disorder and he has been walking up that highway over and over. He has been here at the station, police had even taken him to his residence but apparently, he lives by himself. At this moment we are still following it up as we have made checks with the doctor and the doctors are trying to establish exactly the type of injuries that he had received so that we can establish if it is something that was inflicted on him or if it was because of an accident or something else.”

Claudius Meighan remains in a critical condition.  Police found him around nine thirty on Tuesday night lying on the side of the highway with an apparent cut wound to the back of his head.
