Guatemalan Garinagu boycott referendum

During over coverage of the Guatemala ICJ referendum on Sunday, we came across a group of Garinagu who has ancestry in Belize. They told us that they are Guatemalans who have family in Punta Gorda. However, life on that side of the border is not what many would expect.

Earlier in the month, UNESCO in conjunction with the Embassies of Guatemala and Belize held a cultural exchange program among Garifuna Groups from both countries. The event took place in Guatemala City.
