With the recent spike in crime, there have been more patients that access the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment. Yvette Massiah, Acting Director of Nursing Service, spoke to Love News about how the hospital has been able to adapt to meet the rise in the demand for healthcare services.

Yvette Massiah, Acting Director of Nursing Service: “We have a rise in our Accident and Emergency Department because of our rise in crime and we also have a rise in accidents so we have to be prepared and ready at all time for any mass casualty and that is anything above what we can handle. Anything more than four patients you will start to decide is this a mass casualty, will we be able to handle this and then we go into calling a mass casualty.”
