Hit and Run Victim Passes Away

On Saturday night sometime after eight p.m., a man was knocked down on College Road in Corozal Town. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police, Joseph Myvett, the critically injured man was receiving treatment at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. But sadly, he passed away late this evening.

ACP Joseph Myvette: A male person later identified as Armando Witz 31 years of  a G St. South address Corozal Town was seen was seeing laying on the side of the road and beside him his bicycle which was extensively damaged. According to police investigation Armando Witz was riding from a West to East direction when he was hit from behind by a vehicle. Police investigation have since lead to one Kia Sorento being impounded since this morning and the owner is in police custody as we speak pending investigation into this traffic accident.

Reporter: Okay so that person will be issued with a notice of intended prosecution or will be charged?

ACP Joseph Myvette: It’s depending the outcome of the investigation as Mr. Witz is also critical condition at the Karl Huesner Memorial Hospital.

Myvett said the driver of the vehicle was found this morning in Ranchito Village and he is currently detained by the police.
