A sixth murder was recorded over the violent weekend, this one outside of Belize City. Police say that shortly after nine o’clock on Sunday night, Orange Walk Police were called to the Chan Pine Ridge Road on the outskirts of Orange Walk Town where they found the lifeless body of 27-year-old Alexi Palma. The taxi driver had been shot in the head. ASP Alejandro Cowo briefed the media this morning about what investigators have gathered on the homicide.

ASP. Alejandro Cowo, Head of CIB, Belize City: “Observed a white in color Geo Prizm car with license plate D 0130 parked on the left hand side the of the road facing a north to south direction when travelling from Orange Walk to Chan Pine Ridge Road. Upon inspecting the vehicle at the back seat they observed the motionless body of a male person who was identified as Elmer Alex Palma a 27 year old Honduran national of East San Martin Orange Walk district. He had an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Police at the scene recovered one expended shell and what we understand is that he as last seen alive sometime after 3PM somewhere in Orange Walk and thereafter until his body was found.”
