Rebeca Mena, a house wife and mother of four, is the winner of a brand new four by four Ford Ranger Truck raffled by the Rotary Club of Belize. Mena stopped by the Belize Estate Company this afternoon to claim her prize where we caught up with her. Mena told Love News that it was a complete surprise to her since she did not know her husband had entered her name in the raffle.
Rebecca Mena Winner: “My husband had purchased a ticket in my name but he hadn’t told me that he had done that so I found out of the ticket and the prize on the same day when they were trying to call me to let me know. His work Woodstock was selling for Belize City and so they had people that wanted raffle tickets and they would have gotten them from Woodstock and so he was getting ready to return the sold tickets and he noticed there was one unsold ticket and he didn’t want to return and unsold ticket and that is why he said that he would purchase it under my wife’s name.”
Love News also spoke with Fabiola Mendez, the Sales Team Leader at the Belize Estate Company Limited, who said that it gives her company great pleasure to partner with the Rotary Club of Belize for such a worthy cause.
Fabiola Mendez, the Sales Team Leader at the Belize Estate Company Limited: “The value of the truck, well they get exemption but the full value will be $85,000. It’s a 2019 Ford Ranger XLT and the model is 4×4. It’s a nice vehicle, it is one of my most popular trucks, it is a 4 cylinder economy. It has the power to get you anywhere and it is one of the highest vehicles in the market and I believe Ms. Rebecca got a nice vehicle for $100 and it’s for a worthy cause too.”
Robert Usher, the President of the Rotary Club of Belize, said that the funds from the raffle will be used to support their various projects including the Gift of Life.
Robert Usher, the President of the Rotary Club of Belize: “The purpose of the raffel is ofcourse fundraising and we raise funds for different projects that Rotary does and one of our main signature projects is our Gift of Life Program where we send children away and who have been born with congenital heart defects for surgery abroad. Besides that we have different programs that we do in the city and we have global grants, like we just finished a grant for upgrading the facility in Caye Caulker and it’s called Ocean Academy. It’s a highschool and we do projects on the southside of Belize: literacy programs and several other projects we do in the country and in Belize.”
