Your next month’s cable bill will be an additional thirty percent higher. That’s because the Belize Cable Television Operators Association will increase the cost of cable to sixty dollars per month. The increase comes as a result of the association entering into a copyright licensing agreement with programmers. But with the increase, customers can expect an enhancement of quality as well. For decades cable providers in Belize have been distributing cable signals to the masses without the copyright consent of overseas programmers. When asked about it, Prime Minister Dean Barrow said that the Belize Broadcasting Authority made sure that the increases do not go beyond what was necessary for broadcasters.
The new rate will be inclusive of GST.
