Inebriated man knocked down and driver flees the scene

A Belmopan resident who was allegedly inebriated was knocked down in the Capital. Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett, the Head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch says the driver did not stop to render aid to Geronimo Valle.

ACP Joseph Myvette, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch: “Belmopan Police was called to an area on Costa Rica Street Extension in Belmopan yesterday evening sometime around 6:30pm where a Hispanic male was seen lying in the street with minor head injuries. He was later identified as one Jeronimo Valle, a 9 year old Salvadoran laborer. Our information is that he was walking in a staggering motion on the street where apparently he staggered into an oncoming vehicle and was hit by the vehicle which did not stop. As a result the police were called and the scene was visited and he was transported to the Western Regional Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.”
