JP’s have until the end of July to verify their status

The Attorney General’s Office is giving all Justices of the Peace until the end of July to verify their JP status. According to the Ministry, the exercise is being carried out in preparation for the upcoming re-registration process by the Elections and Boundaries Department. The Ministry is requesting all JP’s to contact them and provide proof of status and their contact information. If they fail to do so, they will no longer be able to use their JP title. According to the President of the Association of Justices of the Peace and Commissioners of the Supreme Court Adrian Madrid, the time given is not enough.

The association represents about six hundred out of about four thousand JP’s countrywide.
