Laws which protect the rights to intellectual property do exist in Belize but are seldom enforced. In Belize BELIPO, the Belize Intellectual Property Organization is the entity responsible to administer the intellectual property legislation of Belize and promote knowledge of intellectual property law in Belize. Today BELIPO is one of the key players at a workshop aimed at providing practical skill sets and capacity building training for leveraging intellectual property tools for competitiveness. The training was facilitated by BELTRAIDE as part of its National Competitiveness Month. Paul Regis of the World Intellectual Property Organization, WIPO, spoke to the media.
Participants are also expected to enhance their capacity for commercializing intellectual property research, ideas, and products.
