The spate of burglaries and armed robberies continues. The latest incident was reported last night in Belize City. Businessman Joseph Kee reported to authorities that his house on Queen Street was burglarized sometime between five o’clock yesterday evening and nine thirty last night. Kee says that the thief or thieves made off with electrical appliances, assorted clothing and fifteen bottles of men colognes. Kee further reported to police that his 2001 four door Lincoln Town Car, valued at twelve thousand dollars was stolen. Police investigations continue.

In the Stann Creek district, Dangriga police are looking for three men who held up and robbed a businessman of an undisclosed amount of cash. The proprietor of New Site Pomona Shopping Center Gou Cheng Xu reported to police that around seven o’clock last night, three men, one of whom was armed with a sawed off shotgun went into the store and took the cash register. Police investigation continues.

Another armed hold up, this time in Corozal town was reported earlier this week. The victim, Angelo Pasos who is the co-owner of White Sapphire establishment on Seventh Avenue reported to police that around two thirty on Tuesday afternoon three Hispanic men armed with firearms accosted him inside the business. Pasos told police that he and his worker were tied up by the robbers, who proceeded to take away a six hundred and fifty dollar gold chain from the worker. They also stole one hundred and twenty five cellular phones from the establishment before making good their escape in what has been described as a tinted white car.

One week after he was brutally murdered on Custard Apple Street, the family of twenty one year old Lerone Johnson is preparing to lay him to rest on Friday afternoon. But today, the police released the results of the autopsy conducted on Johnson’s body. According to the pathologist, the cause of Johnson’s death was traumatic asphyxiation due to trachea injury due to stab wound to the neck. On Holy Thursday afternoon, residents of the Fabers Road neighborhood were shocked when they discovered Johnson’s body on the street near his motorcycle. He was reportedly on an errand for his boss when he was murdered. No suspect in Johnson’s murder has been identified.

Another post mortem examination, this time on the body of thirty seven year old Herman Lanza revealed that his death was due to trauma shock due to multiple organ damage as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. Lanza was murdered on Saturday night when someone opened fire on him as he rode his bicycle at the corner of Poinsetta and Casaurina Streets. Police reports earlier this week said that authorities recovered four expended 12-gauge cartridges and two 9-millimeter expended shells from the scene of the crime. Police investigations continue.

A marijuana plantation has been destroyed by fire in the Toledo district. Police say that on Wednesday morning between the hours of three thirty and eleven o’clock, they conducted an anti-drug operation three miles north of Silver Creek village. The early morning operation led to the discovery of a marijuana plantation containing two thousand, one hundred and ninety two marijuana plants ranging in height from one foot to three feet. Police say no one was found in the area and all the marijuana plants were uprooted and destroyed by fire.
