The youth arm of the National Garifuna Council begins is 14th annual convention today at the Gulisi Primary School in Dangriga.

“The youth moderator, Mary Enriquez, told Love News that the three day event seeks to increase capacity of the NGC youth arm in an effort to fulfill its mission which is to empower the young people participating in the development in the Garifuna culture and people as well as instill in the Garifuna youths the knowledge, skills and values necessary to preserve the Garifuna culture. Enriquez said during the three days event young people will be engaged in a series of meaningful discussions on issues that they are facing. She further commented that from the discussions the youths will be able to develop and implement relevant and meaningful programs and project to help them meet their goals and objectives. Enriquez also inform Love News that the participants will also be involved in a wealth of cultural activities such as arts and craft, music, dance and spiritual session. Some numbers of Garifuna communities throughout the country of Belize are participating in the three days event. Reporting for Love News, Harry Arzu.”
