Traffic Accident Reported in Cayo District

A traffic accident on the Western Highway yesterday, resulted in two men injured. Correspondent Elaine Berry reports:

“At about 4:55pm on Monday, August 13, two cars were involved in a traffic accident at mile sixty five on the Western Highway. The two cars involved were a blue Mazda, driven at the time by 25-year-old, Retton Belisle of #10 Mango Street address in Belmopan and an employee of the Sales Tax Department in San Ignacio. He was driving to Belmopan when upon reaching Mile 65, a gray Jaguar, traveling in the opposite direction, driven at the time by 30-year-old, Althee Westby of #12 Corozal Street, Belmopan lost control of the car and slammed into the blue Mazda. Both drivers were taken to the San Ignacio Community Hospital where their injuries were certified as harm. Westby has been arrested for driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention and negligent harm. He was taken to court where he pleaded not guilty and bail was granted at $1,500.00 – he will return back to court on September 14, 2012.”
