Belize Shotokan Karate Association Holds Annual Camp Aug 15, 2012

 

The annual camp of the Belize Shotokan Karate Association was held at the weekend in the Belize district.  Correspondent Paul Mahung reports.

“From Toledo, the camp had the active participation of members of the Toledo Shotokan Karate Association.  Results from the participants from this district were very favorable as explained by leader of the Toledo team, 5th Dan Black Belt Karate instructor, John Nunez of Punta Gorda.”

“Members of the Belize Toledo Shotokan Karate Club were promoted to 1st degree black belt.  They included Norma Aldana, Joaquin Aldana, 16-year-old, Giselle Mahung; 14-year-old, Oliver Martinez and 10-year-old, Jaylen Tillett.”

“Karate instructor, John Nunez who is also Chairman of the Belize Shotokan Karate Association commented on the other outstanding results of the annual camp of the Belize Shotokan Karate Association.”

“The camp was visited and the guest instructor was Gary Swain from Denver, Colorado.  In addition to the five members, who got their black belts from Toledo, we had two from St. Joseph Shotokan Karate Club – they are Dominic Castillo – 10-year-old and 9-year-old, Jaylen Sutherland.”

“Nunez expressed gratitude to visiting 7th Dan Black Belt Karate Instructor, Gary Swain of the International Shotokan Karate Association from Denver, Colorado; participants from Toledo Shotokan Karate Club and Belize City Shotokan Karate Club from Princess and Doug and Karen Thompson – proprietors of Black Orchid Resort in Burrell Boom where this year’s annual camp of the Belize Shotokan Karate Association was hosted this past Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the past weekend.”
