The annual camp of the Belize Shotokan Karate Association was held at the weekend in the Belize district.  Correspondent Paul Mahung reports.

“From Toledo, the camp had the active participation of members of the Toledo Shotokan Karate Association.  Results from the participants from this district were very favorable as explained by leader of the Toledo team, 5^th Dan Black Belt Karate instructor, John Nunez of Punta Gorda.”

“Members of the Belize Toledo Shotokan Karate Club were promoted to 1^st degree black belt.  They included Norma Aldana, Joaquin Aldana, 16-year-old, Giselle Mahung; 14-year-old, Oliver Martinez and 10-year-old, Jaylen Tillett.”

“The camp was visited and the guest instructor was Gary Swain from Denver, Colorado.  In addition to the five members, who got their black belts from Toledo, we had two from St. Joseph Shotokan Karate Club – they are Dominic Castillo – 10-year-old and 9-year-old, Jaylen Sutherland.”
