A murder was reported in the Orange Walk District.  Correspondent Arturo Cantun has the details.

“A resident of San Vicente, Toledo was murdered this morning in Orange Walk.  Reliable reports indicate to Love News that 33-year-old, Fernando Quib was shot three times while he slept in a truck that was parked on Banak Street, Orange Walk Town.  The incident is reported to have happened around three this morning while Quib was sleeping inside a six wheeler Mazda goods vehicle.  Neighbors claimed to have heard three shots around three this morning, others claimed to have heard up to four shots.”

“This morning about three to four o’clock I heard three gunshots and after that I got up and looked out my windows, I saw everything clear and I looked by my garage and I saw nothing and nothing was stolen.  About five o’clock this morning I got up and I saw a police truck in front of my house and I saw the police and asked what happened and so I got out and asked what was the problem, I thought they were arresting the man for something but then I was told that they had killed the man.”

“Quib received a shot to his rib cage, center back, upper stomach and was grazed to his left arm.  A resident on Banak Street alerted the Police through 911 that she heard shots not far from her house.  Police responded to the emergency call and Quib was found dead on the passenger side inside the truck.  Some residents in the area say they know Quib who frequents the town on business trips to purchase sacks of sugar and cattle and transport them back to Toledo.  Yesterday around 4pm Quib arrived at a mechanic shop on Banak Street to fix the truck; the truck was not able to fix on time and he decided to spend the night in front of the garage.”

“Well I know him, not like friends, not so close but he is a nice person.  I never saw him get into trouble anywhere when he comes to Orange Walk.  Usually he goes to rest at Come and Go Hotel but I don’t know what happened yesterday, he just stayed in the truck for the night.”

“Yes, yes all of them.   Well, my son is the mechanic.  So they come to my son and usually they do all their mechanics here.  Sometimes they spend two to three days here at the garage.”
