The highest jackpot in Belize, Fantasy five’s, four hundred and sixty eight thousand dollars, was won last night.  The lucky winner is a family of four from Corozal Town.  Today Love News spoke with Ronny Hernandez who told us he is sort of a handyman, doing any type of job that arrives at his door.  He couldn’t hide his feelings of excitement.

“I’m good; I’m going to try mind the money and put it in the bank for interest and pay all my bills and make my house and try to help one another.  I have been buying Fantasy 5 for about four months; only quick pick but I changed to another number but luck is luck as they say.  I saw the money going up and up every week and I hoped I win it one of these days; luck is the luck I never stop buy.  I was buying only quick pick and nothing happened now I changed and picked my numbers; I used to buy five now I only buy two and I stick with those two and one of them played.  I bought it at Corozal Town at a store, Ranchito, it used to be a book shop and I bought it right there.  I went there this morning to check the number and the guy at the shop told me I won two times.  I checked it and saw that I won.  I went home on my bicycle and didn’t go to work, I came straight to Belize.”

His wife Heidy Lopez told us she never expected this surprise from her husband when he told her of the winning.

“I got surprised cause he told me to go to the next house to the back and I asked for what and he told me to just go to the back and he will give me a surprise right now.  I was thinking about it and wondering what kind of surprise he will give me; I never thought about this and I got happy about this.  We are thinking about building a house and put the rest of the money in the bank.”

The couple, who has two children, won with the numbers 19,01,09,06 and 20.  And to add to the luck they also got the free ticket letter “M” for which they already obtained their free ticket.  After deduction of tax the family walked away with three hundred and ninety seven thousand, eight hundred dollars.  This is only the second time since its inception that the Fantasy Five jackpot has been won.
