Surviving Victim of Traffic Incident Speaks to the Press Aug 31, 2012

Twenty-five year old Calaney Flowers, a proof teller at Atlantic Bank who allegedly knocked down her ex-boyfriend and his companion, was charged with murder and attempted murder when she appeared in court today. Flowers, who resides on Lavender Street, was also charged with dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm. No plea was taken because the offences are indictable. Neither could the court offer her bail because of the nature of the offences. She was remanded into custody until October 2. The incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28 and claimed the life of 29 year old Lyndon Morrison and injured Sochyl Sosa.   Today Sosa spoke with the press about Tuesday night’s incident.  Reporter Marion Ali has the story.

“Me and my boyfriend went to buy food, when we were coming by the roundabout we saw her vehicle, she followed us and she picked up speed then she banged into us.  After that I don’t remember anything because I flew off the cycle.  We met by the shop, she stopped and asked me questions.  She asked me if the rings fit me; I asked her, what ring, I don’t know about any ring.  Then she said, “Mr. Morrison, come here.  Didn’t you tell Suchyl about the ring?”  Then he told her that he doesn’t know anything about any ring.  Then they started talking about the baby and she told him, ‘well get this now, you will stop seeing your baby and then he told her that she can’t stop me from seeing my baby.  Then she said that he is just a sperm donor, that’s all and then he said well we will see each other in court and then she left.  None of us was quarreling or fighting because she had said that she isn’t quarreling, he wasn’t quarreling and I wasn’t quarreling – she just drove off and we left too.  Then we met her again, when we met her she followed us with speed and so we tried to get more speed but we had to stop because of the bump.”

“Did you during that second encounter when you noticed that she was following, did you have the slightest indication or idea that maybe this time she is coming to harm you being that you have had it out before?”

SUCHYL SOSA

Victim of Traffic Accident

“I was frightened, I told him to stop and that this girl will kill us but he told me, ‘babe I can’t stop I am in speed right now but we had to stop because of the bump.  So when she hit us that is when everything happened.”

“An eyewitness told me that after she hit you the first time, she actually reversed over Mr. Morrison to make sure he was dead.  Do you recall this?”

SUCHYL SOSA

Victim of Traffic Accident

“I don’t recall that one because I was already unconscious but they told me what happened?”

“Word on the street is that she was the common-law-wife who shares a child with him and you were the girl on the side, quote unquote.  How do you respond?”

SUCHYL SOSA

Victim of Traffic Accident

“Well, they have a baby together, I know that but since he and I are together – yes he helps her with the baby but he told me that he wasn’t with her that he is with me.  Everyone knows that, his mom, his sister – everybody knows that – friends, everybody.”
