Thirty-six year old Rudolph Smith, a.k.a. “Tubba”, charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated assault of an indecent nature, was sentenced to 15 tears for aggravated burglary and 3 years for aggravated assault after he was found guilty of the charges today in the # 1 Magistrate’s Court.
Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith who imposed the sentences stipulated that they are to run concurrently, so smith will serve 15 years.
The incident occurred around 4:25 a.m. on July 23, 2011 At a house in Hattieville, located between mile 16 and 17.
A 15 year old girl testified that she was awakened from sleep when she felt someone on top of her. She said the person put a knife to her throat and fondled her, the he demanded that she take off her pant and she refused. It was then she sister awoke and turned on the light. They both then saw that the person was Smith.
Smith testified and said that he was passing by the house and he saw the girl going into the house through the window.
Smith called his sister to testify on his behalf but her testimony did not help his case because the prosecutor put to her that she was asleep at the time.

Eighteen year old Jamie Hope, an unemployed, who allegedly struck a woman on her head with a bottle, was charged with attempted murder when she appeared today in the #4 Magistrate’s Court.
Hope was also charged with wounding and use of deadly means of harm.
Magistrate Dale Cayetano explained to her that the court cannot offer her bail because oif the nature of the offences. He remanded her into custody until November 28.
The incident occurred on September 17.
The complainant,33 year old Joanna Arellano, the manager of Caye Caulker Plaza Hotel, reported to the police that she was with her 14 year old daughter at San Pedro Express when she felt a blow to her head and she fell to the ground. She said when she got up she saw the accused standing over her and she felt blood coming from her head.
She aid she feared for her life so she ran towards the dock and she was taken to KHMH.

Thirty-one year old Carlos Chuc, a construction worker of Plum Tree, Orange Walk, who allegedly stabbed a police constable, was charged with attempted murder when he appeared today in the #2 Magistrate’s Court.
Chuc was also charged with wounding, use of deadly means of harm and common assault.
Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser explained to him that the court cannot offer him bail because of the nature of the offences. She remanded him into custody until November 5.
The incident occurred on Friday, September 21.
Police Constable Ervin Pech reported that he and several others were at the bus stop at the junction of Airport Road and the Northern Highway when Chuc began to use obscene words and Chuc and another man, Wilbert Jimenez, got into an altercation. Pech said Chuc punched Jimenez and that was when he intervened. He said Chuc then pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the left side of his head with it.

Twenty seven year old Lionel Neal a.k.a. “Piggy”, who allegedly stabbed Gregory Mckoy, was charged with attempted murder when he appeared today in the # 4 Magistrate’s Court.
Neal was also charged with dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm.
Magistrate Dale Cayetano explained to him that the court cannot offer him bail because of the bature of the offences. He remanded Neal into custody October 19
The incident occurred on Saturday, September 22. Mckoy reported to the police that ge went to the house of his ex-girlfriend, Brittney Martinez and Neal who was there stabbed him in the upper left side of his back with a knife

Police are investigating a home invasion robbery in the Toledo District. Fifty seven year old Nicholasa Martinez, a naturalized Belizean businesswoman from Jalacte Village reported that around 8:30 pm while at home watching television with her daughter, four armed men wearing masks entered and ransacked her house, stealing a number of items. Among the items stolen were one hundred and seventy thousand Quetzal that was inside her bedroom along with two cellular phones.

Police have charged Wilson Hernandez for kept firearm and kept ammunition without a gun license. Sarteneja Police reported that on the 19th of September, they visited Mirta’s Bar, located on North Front Street in Sarteneja Village. While there they noticed a man brandishing a shiny object in his right hand. The object appeared to be a firearm. A police officer ordered the male person to drop the firearm and the man proceeded to throw it off the balcony of the bar. He was immediately arrested and escorted to the spot where the weapon was thrown. Police recovered the weapon which was a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver. Police also recovered three .38 live rounds of ammunition near the wheel of a pickup truck. Police formally arrested and charged Wilson Hernandez for the crimes of Kept firearm without firearm license and kept ammunition without firearm license.

A Belize City man claims he was robbed at gunpoint in Belize City. Andrew Usher reported to police that while he was sitting down in his van which was parked on Tibruce Street around 2:00pm on the September 8, he was approached and held at gun point by a dark complexioned male, whom he recognized. The assailant demanded five hundred dollars. A struggle ensued between both men for the firearm but the struggle was cut short by a third male who intervened and assisted the assailant by providing him with another firearm. Fearing for his life, Usher handed over seven hundred dollars in cash. Both men headed off on Mahogany Street making good their escape.
