Brother Stabbed Over Tennis Shoe Sep 28, 2012

CIB police have detained a fifteen year old youth pending charges after he allegedly stabbed his older brother at around seven-fifteen this morning over a pair of tennis shoes.  The incident happened in the Bainton’s family yard on Perez Road in Ladyville Village, Belize District.  Love News was at the scene and spoke with another brother, Maxwell Bainton, who was there when the incident happened.

“My other two brothers were out here and they were fussing with each other.  When I came outside, my little brother had already stabbed my next brother next to his heart; I couldn’t really do anything because I had my baby in my arms. The argument started over a pair of tennis shoe because my brother had used my other brother’s tennis shoe and he didn’t like that and had told him about it and that is how the argument started.  The doctor said my brother got pinched on the heart and so they had to place him in a coma and right now he is still in a coma but the doctors say he does have a chance of survival.  I really don’t know what to say about this situation; they are brothers and they shouldn’t be fighting with each other like this.”

The fifteen year old who allegedly stabbed his older brother was reportedly sitting in the yard when police arrived.  Investigators found the suspected weapon, a four-inch blade knife in an adjacent yard.  The victim, meantime, nineteen year old, Elias Bainton, is currently in a coma and undergoing surgery at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.  Police have also taken a caution statement from the younger brother and he is detained pending charges.
