Resource Centre Inaugurated In San Jose Succotz Oct 08, 2012

 

A new resource centre was inaugurated this afternoon in San Jose Succotz Village in the Cayo District. The centre was implemented by the Social Investment Fund and financed by the Government of Belize through a loan from the Caribbean Development Bank.

The project was completed at a total cost of $140,000.00. The project will benefit over 1,800 residents of the village, especially primary and high school students furthering their education in institutions in nearby Benque Viejo del Carmen and San Ignacio. 

The project entailed the completion of a ferro-concrete structure, which had been built by the community of San Jose Succotz.  The work scope included the installation of the roof slab, windows and doors, tiling of the floor, installation of, electrical system, plastering, painting, construction of a stair and ramp.

As part of the project SIF donated nine computers and accessories, office equipment and furniture. The National Library Service and Information Systems supplied all the reference books for the centre.
