Belize Represented In Taiwan for Its Independence

Today 10th October marks the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China.
The Republic of China was formed on the Chinese mainland after the Qing Empire was overthrown in 1912 by Chinese revolutionaries.
In 1949 the Republic of China government under the leadership of Chiang Kaishek moved to Taiwan after a civil war. That Civil War led to the establishment of the communist People's Republic of China on the mainland. Taiwan and Mainland china are ruled by separate Governments.
Contrary to the communist PRC on he mainland the Republic of China on Taiwan is a shining example of democracy and freedom in Asia. The Independence Day celebration was Great with an impressive formal ceremony followed by a spectacular cultural presentation.
In his National Day Address President Ma started by noting that this is his first national day since he began his second term as President. He outlined four main directions that the nation should move in together. These are Reforming Industrial structure and raising salary levels, eliminating investment barriers and increasing job opportunities, defending sovereignty and fishing rights and promoting National Peace and solidifying democracy and the rule of law, while enhancing the development of cross strait relations.
Belize was represented at the ceremonies held in Front of the Presidential Palace in Taipei by Minister of Tourism and Culture Manuel Heredia and Mrs. Heredia and Belize's ambassador to Taiwan. Dr Rene Villanueva Chairman of RSV Limited was also among the many guests from countries around the world.
