The second edition of the Made in Belize catalog was launched via Export Belize, a unit of BELTRAIDE this morning. The purpose of the catalog which features approximately fifty companies is to be able to reach places where local producers are not able to physically go and to acquire new customers. Love News spoke to Shahira McKoy the Manger of Export Belize who said that one of their strategies is to look for strengths in the foreign markets that local producers can capitalize on.
Shahira McKoy, Manager, Export Belize: “The catalog in addition to providing the photos also has an overview of the different companies, when they started, values, what they’re doing that type of thing because a lot of times when you’re promoting out there it’s more than the product. The new type of consumers and buyers out there are interested in the stories behind the companies and so this is a good opportunity to include that story as well. It’s a significant marketing tool and from our promotion efforts, it’s one of the key ones that we use when we do trade shows and missions in the region and outside of Belize. “
Minister of Trade Tracey Taegar Panton reiterated that the catalog is an excellent marketing tool.
Tracey Taegar Panton, Minister of Trade: “This catalog travels everywhere we go in terms of opening new markets for Belizean commodities. The more we grow the export market the more we grow our national economy and so the catalog really serves as a very valuable tool to expose the high quality of our goods to potential export markets.”
One of the local producers is being featured in the catalog for the first time.
Lorcia Moore, Naturally Belize Coconut Products: “I’m so proud and excited to be featured in the Made in Belize catalog 2019. This is the first time and I hope that for years to come that I’ll be featured in there. I do believe it’s going to open that door to start exporting; it’s the first step.”
The first edition of the Made in Belize Catalogue was published in 2015.
