Police have charged an Indian Creek resident for the death of Adrian Choco, a resident of Hicatte Village. It happened on March 16 along the Southern Highway. Police say Choco had just left a bar around eleven o’clock that night and was walking along the highway when he was knocked down and killed. On Monday police said they had one person detained. ACP Joseph Myvett, Head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch says one person has been charged.

ACP Joseph Myvett: “Police has arrested and charged Gilberto Sam 27 years of an Indian Creek address for manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, driving without due care and attention, failing to report an accident, failed to stop and render aid and driving with an alcohol concentration above the prescribed limit.”

Reporter: “Can you briefly say how it is that investigators ended up with information leading them to Indianville where this particular person was?”

ACP Joseph Myvett: “Based on witnesses that saw the vehicle going to that direction the Police proceeded in that direction and followed several other leads that led them to the detention of Mr. Sam.”

Police have the vehicle in their custody and report observing damages to the front right side of the bumper and bonnet.
