Man charged for robbery in Belize City

Thirty-four year old Frank Smith, a resident of Raccoon Street in Belize City was charged today with one count of aggravated burglary and one count of burglary after he and a partner in crime, broke into a string of apartments within the City. ASP Alejandro Cowo briefed the media of the situation.

ASP Alejandro Cowo, Head of CIB, Belize City: “On Tuesday the 7th of August 2018 just after 5:30 police responded to an aggravated burglary at apartment number seven located on Campus Avenue. Upon arrival police met a female person by the name of Rosa Sorilla, she was suffering from a cut wound to the head. What she had mentioned to the police on that date was that she was inside of the apartment when she heard someone knocking at the door. She went and opened the door and that is when two male persons entered the room and as a result one of the male persons began to hit her with the firearm to the head causing the injuries. At the same time the other person took the advantage and stole several valuable things from her including jewellry, laptops and other household items. Upon police checking the scene they observed that three other apartments adjacent to that one were burglarized and stolen there from were other different property belonging to other persons who were not in the building at the time. Police quick response to the report led to the detention of a person by the name of Frank Smith, he was detained somewhere in the Jungle area where police conducted a search on him and they found several items that were later identified as the property of Ms.Rosa Sorilla. Not all the items that have been reported missing so far have been recovered by police.”

As police investigations are ongoing, they are looking for the other culprit.
