Man denied bail on drug charge

1 min read

Alfred Humes, who was remanded into custody after he was charged with drug trafficking, was refused bail when he appeared before Justice Adolph Lucas yesterday.  The Crown, represented by Senior Crown Counsel Sheneiza Smith, had objected to bail. Justice said he denied Humes bail because he is on bail for a charge of robbery. According to the allegation, on December 5, Humes came from Mexico and he attempted to smuggle 489 grams of cannabis in a box of cereal. The cannabis was detected when his belongings were searched by a customs officer. Humes allegedly bolted for the door after the drug was found, but he was apprehended.  Humes was arraigned the same day at Corozal Magistrate’s Court. He was denied bail and he was remanded into custody until January 17. Humes was represented by attorney Leeroy Banner.
