Twenty-nine year old Mennonite businessman Peter Letkeman, a resident of Shipyard, Orange Walk, who was remanded to prison on charges of sexual assault and attempted unlawful sexual intercourse, was released on a bail of ten thousand dollars today that was offered to him by Justice Herbert Lord. The bail was offered on the condition that he hands over all his travel documents, that he reports to Orange Walk Police Station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, that he attends court on each and every adjourned date, that he does not communicate or interfere with the virtual complainant, that he does not go within one hundred yards of the virtual complainant and that he does not interfere with any of the prosecution witness or witnesses. Letkeman is to return to Orange Walk Magistrate’s Court on September 8. Letkeman, who is married and has 6 children, is alleged to have touched the private part of a 13-year-old girl and then attempted to have sexual intercourse with her. The incident occurred at Shipyard on July 19. Letkeman was represented at the bail petition by attorney Oswald Twist.
