The Embassy of Mexico is inviting members of the Belizean and Mexican communities to commemorate the Day of the Dead at the Embassy in Belmopan, as well as the Institute of Mexico in Belize City. According to Hugo Juarez Carillo, Mexico’s Consular of Legal Affairs and Press in Belize, the Day of the Dead is a syncretic cultural celebration that blends Christian and Mexican ethnic traditions to remember people who have passed away. On November 1 and 2 the Catholic calendar remembers the saints that departed faithfully.

An exhibit in relation to the tradition will be opened tomorrow at the Mexican Institute in Belize and the Mexican Embassy in Belmopan.
