Ministries learn about data gathering

Today was the final day of a training held by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), in partnership with the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB). Earlier this week, we told you that SIB hopes to improve its data gathering by implementing a register-based statistical system. The register-based statistical system will be shared amongst ministries that are also involved in data gathering in the hopes of producing more efficient information at a reduced cost. The workshop was attended by representatives from the government, private sector, civil society organizations, and academia. Anders Wallgren and Britt Wallgren who are experts in the field of register-based statistics facilitated the workshop. During the workshop, participants were introduced to new methods on how to use administrative data and develop statistical registers.
