Ministry of Agriculture imports sheep

The Ministry of Agriculture has received their second batch of imported sheep which include  fifteen Barbados Back Belly Sheep and six Katahdin Sheep that were imported from the United States. A total of sixty-six sheep have been imported for the Central Livestock Section in Cayo to use as breeding stock. According to the Ministry, the new breeding stock will be used to diversify the bloodline, therefore, improving the genetics of sheep in Belize. In following BAHA’s regulations when importing live animals, the sheep are currently being quarantined for thirty days at Central Farm.
