Earlier today, Music Ambassador Shyne Barrow gifted musical instruments to the Stella Maris School in Belize City. This morning at the handing over ceremony, Barrow told the media he will seek funding to hire teachers for the school which will be named after a well-known Belizean musician.
Jose Sanchez: “Stella Maris educates people with special needs and diverse abilities from across the country. The Music Ambassador Shyne Barrow wants to add music to their curriculum and has presented the school with music equipment.”
Shyne Barrow Music Ambassador: “These Students who are most vulnerable and are most needy and a society is measured by how they treat the most needy and most vulnerable amongst them so Principal and Ms. Ferguson stayed behind me every step of the way because obviously I have many responsibilities, many financial obligations and so it’s not easy to find this money but I made sure to keep my promise for the new school year which the promise was that we would start it the new school year so I have handed over all of the material and now I just need to go and find the rest of the money to take care of teacher and the rest of the school will commence officially on October 21st as the Leilah Vernon Stella Maris music school.”
Reporter: “Give us a break down about the gift, what was promised, what has been delivered so far, what has been left?”
Music Ambassador Shyne Barrow: “Well all of the materials that were needed to teach the class: instruments, books etc. have all been delivered. The recorders I listed them earlier; everything that I gave: all of the books, all of the stands, everything that the principal requested as far as materials are concerned I was able to hand over today and now we just need to work on the teacher. Obviously that comes at cost so we are working on that right now but we invite any generous doner out there who loves music and loves children to join up and to contact the principal directly and they can make their contribution to it.”
Jose Sanchez: “The Principal hopes their benefactors will come forward to develop the program.”
Principal: “This program will surely uplift our existing programs here at Stella Marris school. We want to expose our children to the Art of music because we know where it it can lead and we never know what hidden potentials our students possess so we want to know and tap into them. You can contact us at Stella Maris School at 224-4564 or you contact me on my cell 600-7279. If you want to stop in; stop in at Stella Maris school and we can dialogue and we can really upgrade this program as well.”
Jose Sanchez: “Music will be coming soon to the Leilah Vernon Stella Maris school.
