New City Administration will not abort street works

1 min read

As part of the reviews being conducted at City Hall, Mayor Wagner has halted some street works in the City. The intention is to review some of the contracts. The move though has caused some inconveniences to the public. According to the Mayor, it is only a temporary inconvenience because they have no intention of aborting any of the street works that were started by the previous administration.

Bernard Wagner, Mayor of Belize City: “I have no intention to stop the projects. What I wanted to get a handle on is the mandate from the bank, who is signing cheques, so on assuming office I couldn’t continue not being a part of the mandate. So I instructed the bank to resist from processing any other cheques until we get that mandate in place and as soon as we get that mandate in place we will continue the projects. We are not here to stop any projects we are still paying for those services so we can’t stop the projects.”

Mayor Wagner says the work should continue soon.
