The stolen safes were not the only crime that recently occurred on La Isla Bonita. The police department is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the stabbing of 26-year-old Adrian Suarez. The construction worker and resident of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye was injured in his chest on July tenth. Officers had detained his common-law wife but she was later released. Assistant Superintendent of Police Alejandro Cowo provided some details into the case.

ASP Alejandro Cowo, Head of CIB Belize City: “The matter  with Adrian Suarez I know that his common law wife was in police custody as we initially believed that she could have helped us. She has been interviewed however she was released and up to now the police is unable to determine exactly where he was injured. The house where they reside was checked and there was nothing that can tell us that there was some dispute between him and his common law at that residence, hence the reason she was released.”

Police say Suarez was stabbed in an unknown location on the island and arrived home after being injured. He was then taken to the San Pedro Polyclinic and later airlifted to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for further treatment.
