The only man who was around when 53-year-old car dealer Mark Vasquez was fatally stabbed has been released from police custody. He is eighteen-year-old Osbaldo Nieto, who was found running from the scene of Vasquez’s murder covered in blood. It was later learned that he had sustained stab wounds as well. ASP Cowo says the matter continues under investigation.

ASP. Alejandro Cowo, Head of C.I.B

“18-year-old Osbaldo Nieto was detained, he was admitted to the hospital with several injuries. The doctor has already treated him and he was discharged two days ago. He was brought into custody, questioned and after reviewing the statements that we have recorded the young male person Mr.Nieto was released but the investigation is still continuing at this moment. There are no other leads we have put the files together and sent it to the Director of Public Prosecution for her to assist us in the investigation.”

ASP Cowo said there were no other persons in the area as far as they are concerned, except for Vasquez and Nieto. Was it then a case of self-defense? ASP Cowo said they cannot ascertain if that is indeed so.
