The owner of Caribbean Resort Villas in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, has chosen to market a tourism package to the international community. That package is being described as the largest and most extravagant lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender event to be held in Belize. The private event is being called Temptation Island Pride Week and would include seven day and seven nights filled with events such as drag show and a runway model show. While the event is not slated to take place for another three months, in September, the event has been getting tons of attraction, both from those who are for it and those against it like Pastor Scott Stirm.

“Our perspective on it, obviously, The Bible is very clear when it comes to homosexual acts and homosexuality and so yes, it’s disappointing to see that somebody is pushing that into Belize as a private event.”

“It’s a private event not a public event.”

“It’s being hosted by one of the resorts out in San Pedro and so I’m not sure if they are planning on marching in the street but I think that the nation on a whole, the convictions are very strong against those kinds of things but in San Pedro it might be a different story. I have heard terrible reports from out of San Pedro things that happen in the different clubs; all kind of sexual lewdness and all kinds of craziness and so just like in many places all over the world that are pleasure capitals for tourism, people get far away from home and want to do crazy things and so I have heard reports of extremely rude and terrible things happening that are taking place in the clubs in San Pedro.  So, yes we would expect that there would be those that would want to invite and bring this into the country right there.”

“Do you see the event as something that would harm the community of San Pedro or something like that?”

“I think it’s the kind of thing that would harm the whole world and put the whole world at risk. The power of suggestion to say that these things are okay and that’s the whole agenda that is behind it; to redefine everything that this is completely normal and natural and the truth of the matter is that this is absolutely opposite. The first thing  we are doing is that we are mobilizing our churches to prayer all over the nation and we are calling in the churches to address prayer and then we are going to convene together as leaders and so, anyway you cut it, I know we will see God intervene in this situation.  So, it’s important to consult with our different leaders and we’ll take that action from there.”
