Patrick Faber says he still has hopes to lead the United Democratic Party. The Deputy Prime Minister is also the Deputy Party leader of the UDP and he has his eyes set on the leadership. Since Prime Minister Dean Barrow will not seek re-election, he will step down as Party Leader giving way to a new leader. Faber says he is confident that it will be him.
Patrick Faber, Deputy Prime Minister: “Absolutely I’m ambitious I’ve never hidden that and yes that is inevitable, that I’ll challenge not that I will will, unless something happens beyond my control the father above has another plan for me.”
Reporter: You’re confident that you stand a good chance ?
Patrick Faber, Deputy Prime Minister: “Absolutely I’ve won conventions against my colleague who is a very good opponent for the Chairmanship of the party and the Deputy Leader so I see no reason why the outcome will be any different for the leadership of the party.”
Belmopan Area Representative, John Saldivar has also indicated that he too will contest the party’s leadership.
