Two months ago we told you about the two Nepalese who arrived in Belize through the Phillip Goldson International Airport on a Copa flight. Those two persons were deemed as potential security risk however they still managed to set foot in Belize. An investigation into the matter was immediately launched and three persons from the Immigration Department were fingered. At that time Minister responsible for Immigration, Beverly Williams, told us that she could not comment much on the matter since the investigation had just begun. However, this week Minister Williams updated the media, saying that the matter is still being investigated by the Belize Police Department.
Minister of Immigration Beverly Williams: I think that investigation is still with the Police so there is very limited things that I can say. An officer was relocated from that position to avoid any compromise that can happen in that environment where that situation occurred. One person has been removed and those investigation because there was also special branch interaction in that process along with the immigration side of things and so the matter is being investigated by Police, it’s not concluded as yet.
We will keep following this story.
