A taxi man was robbed this week. 25 year old Darnell Puerto, a resident of Belize City said he decided to take a walk on Mopan Street and at 7:45 p.m., he was accosted by two men who were carrying firearms. The men approached him and proceeded to rob him of his car key, a 2005 Mazda Tribute, a LG phone, a gold ring, a gold chain, a gold bracelet and $180 dollars cash. The thieves took all his cash and gold which amounted to $4,200 in value.
On Thursday night, the police conducted a joint operation in Esperanza Village in the Cayo District. After 7 p.m., they found of a chrome .22 “COLT” brand pistol without a serial number. It contained a loaded magazine loaded with ten live .22 rounds of ammunition. No one was in the area, and as a result the firearm was sealed and labeled as found property.
In other news, a postmortem examination was conducted on the body of Luis Armando Sanchez. At the conclusion of the examination, it was learned that the 28 year old’s death was certified as due to multiple organ failure due to multiple organ damage as a result of herbicide acute intoxication.
