Police officer Arcenio Yah faces criminal and disciplinary charges after his fellow officers found suspected cocaine in his house Tuesday. Shortly after midday police, on the strength of a warrant, searched the home of Yah and found the suspected drug. Inspector Wilfredo Ferrufino provided details of the search.
Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino: “Present at the time was Arsenio Yah a 40 year old Police Constable attached to the Corozal Police and with him in the resident at the time were three other family members. The Police proceeded to search the residents and inside the wardrobe they discovered a shirt and inside that shirt they discovered a transparent plastic bag with a substance they believe to be crack cocaine. The drugs was ferried to the station and weighed. It amounted to 4.3 grams. Mr. Arsenio Yah was later formally arrested and charged for Drug trafficking. He appeared in Magistrate Court and he pled not guilty. The matter is before the Courts.
Reporter: “ Is this this his first drug offense.”
Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino: “That I know of yes.”
Yah is also facing interdiction.
