On the night of Tuesday, December 19, Belize City Police found 80-year- old Claudius Meighan unconscious near mile three on the George Price Highway. He had injuries and was rushed to the KHMH where he was admitted in a critical condition and consequently died. Initially, it was believed that Meighan had been either a victim of a hit and run or a brutal attack. However, this morning ASP Alejandro Cowo told the media that the result of a post-mortem examination has proven otherwise.

“Reference the incident where Mr.Claudious Meighan was found on the 19th of December on the George Price Highway the post-mortem was conducted this morning and the doctor has certified that the cause of death was due to a fall that he had received and it is not consistent with any road traffic accident or any intentional knock by anybody. So it was caused by him falling causing him to go into a coma and thereafter he suffered from lung collapse that caused his death.”
Meighan was a resident of the Belama Area of Belize City.
