A nineteen year old is recovering from a gunshot injury he sustained on Friday night, just as the nationwide power outage happened. Police identified him as Melroy Pelayo. Police say they found Pelayo at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital shortly after 7:15 in the night. By today, ASP Alejandro Cowo, Head of the Crimes Investigation Branch said they have charged one person for the attack on Pelayo.
ASP Alejandro Cowo – Head of CIB: “What we understand is that Mr. Pelayo was walking with other persons on Rio Bravo Crescent just after the lights were cut off and whilst he was walking along with other friends he was approached by two male persons riding on separate bicycles. One of the male persons pulled out a firearm and fired several shots at his direction which caused the injury. Based on that Police conducted an investigation and on yesterday’s date a person by the name of Leroy Thomas Bardalez 20 years of age was arrested and charged for attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and wounding.”
Police say they suspect the motive behind Pelayo’s attack is an ongoing dispute in the area.
