Police say Two men lucky to be alive after being shot in separate incidents

There were two minor shooting incidents that occurred over the weekend. Luckily none of the injured persons were seriously hurt. According to the police, 34 year old Alrick Smith, a Ladyville resident was quite lucky to be grazed twice on the head.

A.S.P Alejandro Cowo – Head C.I.B. Belize City: “Last night just after 11 Police visited Pigeon St. located in Ladyville where they spoke to Alrick Smith 34 years Belize. He was also seen with two apparent gunshot grazes to the back of the head. He mentioned to the police that he was walking on the same street when he was confronted by a male person who was wearing a mask. As a result, a struggle ensued between them and the male person fired two shots at his direction causing the above-mentioned injuries. He was admitted to the hospital and he was discharged this morning. So far Police are looking for two persons that can assist in this investigation. At this moment police have not spoken to Mr. Smith in depth so we do not know exactly if he will provide any information to what the police has so far.”

Dangriga resident Tyrone Flores is also lucky to be alive. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams told us today that he was shot once on the shoulder while walking along the scenic riverside in Dangriga Town over the weekend.

Chester Williams – Commissioner of Police: “Police responded to a shooting incident on Riverside St., Dangriga Town. Upon arrival, they met one Tyron Flores suffering from a single gunshot injury to the shoulder. He was taken to the Southern Regional Hospital where he was admitted for treatment in a stable condition. He reported to the police that he was on Riverside St. when he was accosted by a lone gunman who fired one shot at him causing the said injury. Police have since detained one individual and that person is expected to be charged sometime today with the crime of attempted murder. It seems to be a result of an old outstanding issue between them.”
