27-year-old Irvin Cantun is recuperating at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital from chop wounds he received in the early hours of Monday morning while on his way home in San Jose Palmar Village hospitalized. According to reports from villagers, Cantun was heading home when he was suddenly attacked with a machete by a fellow villager. According to the Police report, Cantun was socializing with some friends when he saw Alberto Canche and proceeded to provoke him. Police say Canche went home and returned armed with a machete and inflicted the chop wounds to Cantun. OC of Orange Walk Police formation ASP Selvyn Tillett told us a bit more.
“Initial police investigation revealed that in Palmar Village, Irvin Cantun was disrespectful to one Alberto Canche who attacked Cantun and inflicted said wounds. Cantun is presently at the KHMH in a critical condition. Canche has been arrested and charged for the dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm.”
“Is Orange Walk police concerned that this is once again a concern for gang rivalry happening in that vicinity?”
“Not really there is nothing to indicate that this is gang related.”
“While there is no official report will police do an investigation into this incident.”
“Well once we hear about it we will look into it, that is our job.”
“One of the young men that is pointed out in this incident, his name also surfaced in the murder of Sutherland and of the two young men Usher and Danny….”
“As stated I will not comment on anything I have no official report so I cannot comment on that.”
Canche has been charged with dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm and was remanded to the Belize Central Prison. Cantun remains hospitalized at the KHMH. Love News understands that his left arm from the elbow down was amputated and doctors detected a crack to the right side of his skull. Cantun received two chop wounds to the right side of his head, one to the back of his head, one to the left elbow and a severe cut to his face and mouth.
